CAISL: Monitoring visit

In relation to the fact that our CISU project CAISL is now drawing to a close at the end of 2024, Lene Høgh and Gitte Davidsen have been on a monitoring visit.

The project takes place in northern Uganda in the Nebbi District. Thanks to our committed partners JEEP and UCSD and not least JEEP’s two field workers, Uyenyboth Patricia and Mark Caesar, persistent and dedicated efforts, the project has progressed well and many citizens have been involved and trained, with improved living conditions as a result.

On the first day in Nebbi, Lene Høgh and Gitte Davidsen visited: a primary school that had received LED lighting, Joshua’s tree nursery, the group Youth don’t Cry, which runs their own small nursery and finally a visit to the organization AFARDs (Agency for accelerated Regional Development) Nebbi office.

The second day was a visit to the District Community Development Officer, and a very exciting and dynamic Energy Hub where ‘Yellow Power Women’ demonstrated the Basket Cooker’s effect for a village after which the food was served to the whole village. Reusable sanitary napkins made by young boys and girls were also demonstrated.

It all interested the residents of the village, who wanted to learn more and created a new group called ‘Yellow Power Women’. Finally, visits were made to some of the participants’ private kitchen huts with the project’s newly built energy-saving clay stoves.

The day ended with us eating together and talking about the progress of the project and the future of the activities.
