Internationally, Denmark has a strong focus on wind energy: after the energy crises (1973-74), we already in 1978 in THY could deliver the first commercial 22 kW Wind turbine. Households could buy it, get warranty and production figures and service. And then something happened: people bought the small wind turbines and the household became self-supplying with electricity and heat. Rural areas could turn off oil-fired burners, and welcome wind as energy supply, at least 89% of the time.
And now that electric cars are within the possibilities, the household wind turbine also can supply electricity to the electric car. If we don ́t have the wind then maybe we have the sun. In March this year a roof with a 6 kW photovoltaic system provided could deliver 1.500 km driving in an electric delivery van.
