Green Experiences for the whole Family (Green Safari)
Home / Our Work / Projects / Green Experiences for the whole Family (Green Safari)

The project “Green experiences for the whole family” is also intended as a way to use Nordic Folkecentrer’s large outdoor areas progressively in relation to biodiversity (and communication). The project is created as an activity race where the participants can only complete and receive a diploma by solving 10 main tasks. It is experiential communication in the local area, which activates both the senses and the large muscle groups in the communication of our messages about sustainable energy, biodiversity, environmentally sound purchasing and behaviour.
This project is funded by EU and LAG Thy-Mors

The Sustainable Development Goals

On a general assembly in 2015 the United Nations (UN hereafter) agreed on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, or Global Goals.
The goals “provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future” (UN).
‘They are a urgent call for action by all countries – both developed and developing – and all of the 17 goals are interlinked in the way to reaching them.
It’s important that we collaborate all together to reach the goals. The project of Green Safari is a way of mediation to young people and families, to make them aware that individuals, families and schools can work with the goals on a everyday basis. As well as companies, regions and countries.
Nordic Folkecenter is working strategic with some of the UN Global Goals. If you want to know more about that, you can read more on the page “UN Goals in Folkecenter”
Project resumé
The project must offer a local activity, primarily for families and schools, but in reality everyone can participate. The participants in the project get the opportunity to play with the green transition, the UN’s World Goals, and get inspiration to experience everyday life and life with greener eyes. Nordic Folkecenter would like to invite you to experience what we are working on and learn more about climate action, sustainability and global goals.
Nordic Folkecenter is a place that has always been open to the public, and annually we receive around 6,000 guests. The project target groups, is people who we want to see more often at Nordic Folkecenteret – the younger generation (and the future workforce) and families; both target groups with the opportunity to act on the basis of the knowledge they acquire in connection with the project.
Project Objectives
We will offer a local activity where everyone can participate, where families can play to gain knowledge about green transition, biodiversity and the UN Goals, as well as get inspiration to experience the ‘outside’ with new eyes. With the project, the Nordic Folkecenter will invite people in and communicate about the UN Goals and biodiversity – at the same time the participants become aware of the Nordic Folkecenter’s work areas. The Folkecenter’s project managers has been inspired by escape rooms, and the project’s structure is inspired by the techniques in the sense that the participants have to solve some tasks to get the answer and thus be able to move on to the next post.
It is experiential communication, which must contribute to us being able to communicate messages about sustainable energy, biodiversity, the UN Goals, plastic problems in the sea, environmentally sound purchasing and behaviour. Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy has many professional partners and activities that all support sustainability. Annually, we have approx. 6,000 guests, some of whom are private, who come to see the area and our many exhibitions on renewable energy.
With this project, we would also like to offer a different and wider target group and reach out to, for example, families with children and young people in primary schools. Most of those who work professionally with the green transition are familiar with the UN Goals. The project is to be able to play and inspire the families with children and school children (and teachers) to become more curious about the UN Goals and biodiversity.
The project has been developed so that Nordic Folkecenter and the visitors can play with the green transition – the project must challenge and inspire to think green, sustainable thoughts in everyday life (both at school and at home). In this way, the project supports and contributes to the fulfillment of the Danish Climate Act from 2020, which aims for Denmark to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by 70 per cent in 2030. compared to the level in 1990, and that Denmark achieves being a climate-neutral society by 2050 at the latest. The purpose of the project is not to tell the participants what is right or wrong – but to make them reflect on where they themselves can make a positive difference with regard to the climate, the green transition and biodiversity.
